Turn to the Sea

Mini Memour by Tom Adams
Mono Print by Wendy Setzer

We flew to the beach on the wings
of my ‘57 ford wagon,
past the grey building where
our mom’s memories were
wiped clean.
Where our past
lay in a puddle of pee.
We surfed waves until
the wind sent us packing.
Lead arms lifted heavy boards,
two fins down
between the ford’s green wings.
We seldom rushed
the long drive home.
Our sunburns glowed,
salt crystals clung
to our eyelashes.
we sang with Dylan,
how does it feel,
no direction home,
a complete unknown,
like a rolling stone.
